Application of Reliability Engineering
Methods to New Product Development in a Medical Devices and
Diagnostics Industry
This presentation covers the
application of reliability engineering methods to new product
development programs in a medical devices and diagnostics industry.
Key elements of the reliability strategy for new product
development are discussed along with the cost of
failures/unreliability. The presentation includes discussions on
reliability growth testing strategy and reliability growth modeling
– two key elements in growing the reliability of a product and
meeting/exceeding the customer's expectation. Real world examples of
the application of these tools and techniques are provided. The
presentation also includes the lessons learned (what worked well and
what did not).
Key Words: Medical Devices,
Medical Diagnostics, Reliability Growth Modeling, Reliability Growth
Testing, Design for Reliability
