R&M Analysis of Three Load Sharing Power
Forms Intermixed on Common Replaceable Modules
Trade studies aid design,
influencing outcomes through characterization of controllable
variables. When existing tools require simplifying assumptions to
fit the mold where uniqueness exists, one may be left with some
cloud of doubt and the potential to make flawed choices. Exploiting
modeling and simulation through macros in MS Excel® can remove the
assumptions and doubt. This presentation will demonstrate the ease
of incorporating such uniqueness for complete characterization of
reliability, maintainability, availability, and life cycle cost (LCC) trade space
variables. This will be accomplished "pictorially" using reliability
block diagrams (RBDs) with time-varying failure rates, multiple
restoration choices and "simple" macros.
