Introduction to Environmental Screening
of Complex Systems
This tutorial will cover the basic
elements of Environmental Stress Screening (ESS). Some specific
topics will be: (1) failure models, (2) mixed distribution models
for early life, (3) how to select appropriate screening environments
at both the component and system level, (4) the use of cost models
to determine where in the production process ESS should be conducted
and (5) how to determine when ESS should be stopped with and without
detailed failure mode analysis.
