Reliability - More Than Just a
Reliability Group
In your reliability role,
have you ever felt like Rodney Dangerfield because you get no
respect? Is your reliability group looked on as a cost and/or
time burden to a project? If so, you may be working too hard
implementing a reliability “discipline” versus developing a
reliability “culture.” This tutorial will follow the
transition from reliability discipline toward reliability
culture in Halliburton’s Production Optimization organization
over the last 20 years. Methods that garnered
support/involvement from management and the overall organization
will be presented. One of the methods was as simple as
presenting data as a movie versus two-dimensional plots. Another
was capturing the dollar value of the work done to show the
value returned by reliability efforts. Tools such as virtual
testing to decrease your cost of operating will be presented.
This presentation will also illustrate parallels between
reliability activities within Halliburton and recent U.S. military
recommendations for achieving ultra-reliability as presented in
the U.S. Army paper entitled “Making Reliability a Reality.”Key Words:
