Design for Reliability and
Maintainability – A Success Story
Although reliability,
maintainability and system health are often noted to be mandatory
requirements for projects and programs it is often left to the post-concept or design phase for actual implementation. This presentation
addresses one example of a program where the reliability,
maintainability and systems health were incorporated as part of the
system concept development and the impact it had on such program
elements as concept of operations, fault detection and failure
management, reduced maintenance times and the ability to meet stringent
mission reliability requirements. In addition, the customer received
updates during concept development, greatly enhancing their
confidence in the quality of the system development and the ability
of the proposed system to meet cost and schedule constraints.
