9:10 to 10:10 a.m. Tuesday June 17, 2008
Maintenance Analysis in the Canadian Air
Force
The Canadian Air Force has
established the Maintenance Analysis Centre (MAC) to act as the
center of expertise for maintenance analysis activities within the
air force. For the past six years, the MAC has developed expertise
and processes to look at in-service support for legacy fleets and
equipment within the inventory. The MAC also provides specialist
support for special projects with respect to improving maintenance
performance within unit organizations, and approval of changes to
approved maintenance programs.
The presentation will describe two
initiatives:
- The application of Reliability
Centered Maintenance (RCM) logic processes to legacy aircraft
scheduled preventive maintenance programs.
- The development of an
automated trend monitoring system to screen in-service failure
data.
The presentation will highlight the
practical challenges in balancing the wants of the user community
with the need for accuracy and accountability in an increasingly
regulated environment.
