Recent Advances in HALT and
HASS Techniques and Equipment
Reliability and also cost reduction can be obtained
during three separate periods: design, testing and manufacturing. This tutorial will give
a brief history of the advancements in HALT and HASS methods, discuss the application of
them including techniques and equipment, and then present a summary of some recent major
advancements. The return on investment from the proper use of the methods is so large as
to be incredible unless one has experienced them firsthand. Time is saved in design which
reduces costs, time is saved in production and finally reliability is improved very
significantly which impacts bottom line profit to a large extent over the long haul. HALT
and HASS are now required by many organizations including the U.S. military.
Key Words: HALT, HASS, HASA,
