An Effective Reliability Program to Successfully Fulfill Contractual Reliability Requirements

The objective of any reliability program is to design and manufacture a reliable product in the most cost-effective manner. To effectively achieve that result, one must fully understand the customer’s reliability expectations in order to tailor and implement an effective Reliability Program Plan. The Reliability Program Plan may be a customer deliverable (e.g. SDRL, CDRL) that describes all of the reliability tasks necessary to satisfy the reliability requirements described in the Statement of Work (SOW). In addition, by being approved by different integrated process development team (IPT) members and program management, it engages everyone to be actively committed to meeting the reliability requirements through an appropriate allocation of resources. This presentation will define the set of potential tasks and activities that will guide reliability engineers to implement an effective Reliability Program Plan that will help to successfully fulfill the contractual reliability requirements. The major points covered in this presentation include: 1) reviewing requirements, 2) performing reliability design analysis and 3) providing design support to IPTs and program reviews.

Key Words: Reliability Requirements, Reliability Management, Reliability Program Plan, Program Reviews
