Different Approaches to Conducting a RAM Model in a UK Power Station

This presentation will highlight the different approaches, problems encountered and the results obtained from the RAM model developed for a new installation at a UK Power Station. The study provided a number of KPIs that the company could use as part of a performance management system and their continuous improvement programme.The selected approach combined a number of approaches and was modeled at up to five hierarchical levels down to failure mode level.

Mr. Thompson has over 40 years experience in maintenance and reliability in many parts of the world including UK, Kazakhstan, Libya, Nigeria, Zambia, Brazil, India, USA, Norway, Abu Dhabi, and Malaysia and in a wide range of industries including steel making, mining, energy, oil and gas. For the past 16 years, David has worked in a consultancy and training role in the area of maintenance management, CMMMS and reliability. Mr. Thompson has developed a number of training courses aimed at the maintenance sector including Reliability and Maintenance Optimisation in the Process Industries, Best Maintenance Management Practices, RCM. He holds a B. Sc (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering and is a member of the Safety & Reliability Society in the UK.
