From Blue Sky To Green Field And Beyond
Phu Bia Mining Limited is a “Blue Sky” subsidiary of Pan Australian Resources. Phu Bia Mining Limited have successfully developed a “greenfield” mine and
copper/gold concentrate process plant, in challenging and remote geography, in the People’s Democratic Republic of Laos. Many maintenance and reliability engineering professionals in the mining industry have the opportunity to work with new
greenfield operations. The process of examining the plant that is being installed and to then develop appropriate, effective equipment operation and maintenance strategies is fundamental to their work. Relatively few might have had the opportunity to work with both a
greenfield development and also to have had the additional challenges and rewards of establishing the business processes for the execution of maintenance, at a “Blue Sky” business. This presentation will take the attendees through a journey of developing new
maintenance planning, scheduling, work management, reporting and continuous
improvement processes. The presentation will also show how Phu Bia Mining Limited approached the Operational Readiness for Maintenance Planning and Reliability Engineering. Operations and
maintenance managers and professionals should find our experiences interesting and, hopefully, also useful in their own efforts to optimise reliability and minimising waste.
