A Closed-Loop Process for Technical Risk Management in Development Projects

An overall process is presented that allows efficient risk management in development projects. It encompasses risk assessment, various types of FMEAs and an optimized validation. This process allows the systematic inclusion of robust design and analytical results like Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tasks. Monitoring techniques like Reliability Growth applied during the testing phase give insight into the product's maturity on a system level.

This process has been successfully applied in various projects. Experiences are presented, pros and cons are discussed and an outlook is given on the planned further development of this process.

Key Words: Risk Management, Optimised Validation, Risk Minimisation
