Mismanaging RAMS: L3 or Lost Lessons Learned
Problems encountered in Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Supportability (RAMS) are not the exception in a project. It seems to be sometimes common practice to forget what we learned from previous projects. This then results in demotivated engineers and slapdash or discredited studies. RAMS is not an exact science but the outcomes can be invaluable, especially when safety is a concern. And going further, bad RAMS can cast shadows or discredit a company’s competence. This presentation will explore some situations encountered on different projects in which the author was involved. Fortunately, lessons learned can be positive if they are not forgotten. Proposals for improvement will be presented to conclude on a positive note.
