Session 10

Maintainability, Availability, Reliability of Systems/Components Through Decision Analysis

Most of the Power Plants are ageing, built more than three decades ago. It is not unusual for major components to begin experiencing failures. This situation requires maintenance and calculation of availability. This presentation describes an approach designed to review the failure history data in the past and predict the future failure using proven mathematical modeling. Subsequently plot the probable failures, selection of components by sorting out the rank from highest to lowest, later arrive at the components which contribute the maximum failures. Fault/event tree analysis, decision analysis, Weibull analysis, reliability block diagram analysis and Bayesian updating are discussed.
