Phased array radar systems are used by the military for tracking targets and providing weapon engagement support. They are also used by weather service departments for early warning of incoming storms.

A manufacturer in the defense industry wished to evaluate the cost of maintaining a new fleet of phased array radar in a desert environment. This presentation demonstrates the use of statistical reliability analysis to calculate the reliability of a phased array radar. The methods involved are life data analysis and reliability block diagram analysis. This information is used to project the cost of maintaining the fleet of radar systems.
