Reliability is the major driver of Customer Perceived Value
and must be managed within a structured process which encompasses all
the key activities needed, from concept development through production
with a systemic approach and throughout the Extended Enterprise. ITI has
deployed a Reliability Process Maturity Model – RPMM - which
allows proper assessment of a Company’s capabilities and defines a
specific reliability process suitable to the level of maturity of the
Company itself. There is a RPMM for complex systems and one for none
complex systems. This presentation will concentrate on the RPMM for
complex systems. Higher RPMM levels imply more advanced and
sophisticated processes, methods and tools. This allows the achievement
of reliability targets while reducing product development costs, time to
market and leaving less of a carbon footprint.
This presentation describes the different RPMM levels implemented
starting from companies trying to implement a reliability practice to a
best-in-class reliability practice. Companies with a high RPMM level
limit the execution of physical field testing before production by
leveraging Upfront Pro-Active Virtual Reliability Engineering
activities. All upfront activities are planned upfront, executed and
tracked throughout all development phases assuring the required risk
mitigation.
